Vision Airlines makes every attempt to assure your baggage is not lost or damaged. However, if
your baggage doesn’t arrive on-time or in the condition in which it was received, it is important
you report your lost, missing or damaged property to Vision Airlines before you leave the airport.
For complete information, please refer to Vision Airlines’ Contract of Carriage. After a 10 day search by Vision Airlines, and no bag is found, you will need to fill out our printable (PDF) Baggage Tracing/Claim Form.
Damaged Baggage
If your baggage was damaged:
- Go to the Vision Airlines Baggage Service Office at the airport where you arrived and report
the damage WITHIN 4 HOURS of arrival. - Show the baggage to the agent so they can assess the damage and liability. Please
understand that we’ll do what we can, but that we are not liable for normal wear and tear,
including scratches, small dents, rips and tears. Vision Airlines is not liable for torn, scratched,
missing telescopic handles, straps, zippers, wheels or wheel casings. - If you over packed your baggage, we are not liable.
- Vision Airlines is not liable for carry-on baggage.
- Vision Airlines is not liable for damage resulting from Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) inspections. - No compensation will be given for baggage lost on return flights.
If you put any of the following in your baggage, even if it was declared, Vision will not be liable
for it: optics, keys, jewelry, money, silverware, negotiable papers, securities, business
documents, files, books, manuscripts, publications, blueprints, precious metals, antiques,
heirlooms, irreplaceable items, collectibles, artifacts, painting/works of art, art supplies,
medication, orthotics, surgical supports, samples, natural fur products,
photographic/video/electronic equipment and accessories, sound reproduction equipment, CDs,
DVDs, musical instruments, computer equipment (including hardware, software and all
accessories), hand and power tools, machinery and/or their parts, unsuitably-protected
recreational and sporting equipment, bags made from lightweight material not designed for
shipping, toys, fragile articles or other similar valuable items and commercial effects.
Delayed or Lost Baggage
If your baggage does not show up, go to the Vision Airlines Baggage Service Office before you
leave the airport, to report your missing baggage. The baggage service will create a tracing file
and provide updates to you regarding the status of your bag. Please keep this number, as you
will need to refer back to it when initiating claims or inquires about your property. You may be
eligible for a Baggage Fee rebate if your first or second paid checked bag(s) have been delayed
for more than 12 hours after being reported to a Baggage Service Office.
Expense Reimbursement
Vision Airlines requires that receipts be presented for all reasonable expense reimbursements
due to the delay of a passenger’s bag. Reasonable expenses generally are $50 for the first 24
hours and $25 per day for the next 4 days your baggage is delayed. The guidelines for
reasonable expenses are NOT daily limits or cap and additional expenses may be incurred and
should be handled on an individual basis up to the limit of liability. Any disbursements will be
deducted from the final settlement if the bag is not located.
Lost and Found
Items found in the terminal or on the aircraft are turned into the local baggage service
department. All lost articles are logged and held at the local baggage office until the passenger
claims them, or makes arrangements to have them shipped at the owner's expense. All items
found in the Lost and Found inventory are held for thirty (30) days. After that time, unclaimed
items are forwarded to System Baggage Service for salvage. All high value items are locked in
a secure area whenever possible to reduce the possibility of theft. All passengers with Lost and
Found issues are asked to go to the airport where the articles were lost.
Limits of Liability
Liability for loss, delay, or damage to baggage will be limited as indicated below, unless a higher
valuation for checked baggage has been declared and additional charges paid at check-in.
Excess valuation may not be declared on certain types of articles.
Liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited to:
- Domestic Travel - $3,300USD per ticketed passenger.
- International Travel governed by the Warsaw Convention - $9.07USD per US pound up to
$634.90USD per bag. - International Travel governed by the Montreal Convention – 1,131 SDR (Special Drawing
Rights) per ticketed passenger.
Baggage Liability Restrictions
- Maximum liability is not automatic – damage or loss value must be proven.
- Vision Airlines does not assume liability for unsuitably packed items.
- Vision Airlines does not assume liability for loss, damage or delay of baggage that may result
from a security search conducted by any local, state, or federal agency. - Certain items are excluded from liability.
